ISO of pit for cook-off

I am cooking in a cook-off July 8-9 and the pit I usually cook on is no longer available for use. I know, I need to just go out and buy my own competition cooker but I havn't made it around to it yet. Can anybody recommend a place that will rent a good cooker for a weekend at a decent rate? If worse comes to worse I will throw my small off set on the back of trailer and haul it down there and do my best. Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with the area but you might try a party rental place. I know in Austin there are a couple of party rental stores that rent out pits. No idea what the rates or pits will be like. :dont:

You are much more likely to get a good walk or win if you cook on equipment you are already familiar with, your call though.

Reminds me of a cook off we did a few years back at Medina lake. 35 teams all with nice set ups, stick burners, pitmakers, trailers with porches and such.
This old timer pulls up next to my camp and simply backs in a spot drops the tailgate and in the back he has this old 55 gallon pit. He never unloaded it off the truck and long story short he walked away with a 1st in chicken and 3rd in ribs.
while we were all breaking down our camps ez ups, banners, fencing and things he simply closed his tailgate and drove off. 8)

I have a friend that cooks strictly on Weber kettles. His team name is trunked up BBQ he has my upt most respect because when he pulls up in his car and opens the trunk there are two kettles in there and he will kick butt at any given day. It ain't what you cook on its what you know. ;)

I appreciate all the good feedback. It think i'll end up just trailering ole faithful and cooking on what I know. No time to experiment with a new cooker.
