I'm around Lufkin but can travel a little ways. And no it doesn't matter if it is or not.

There's one at Cove MArina in Riverside, unsanctioned, June 13th.
Then an IBCA event, in Bryan, June 19th.
Then an IBCA event, in Trinity, July 4th.
Those are the only ones I can think of, off the top of my head, that are fairly close to you.

There is one in Rusk July 3 and 4 look on ibca web site has all of their cook offs listed.
