IBCA rules- can I bring my meats pre-trimmed?

Postby six30two » Wed Mar 20, 2013 1:17 pm

I was wanting to:

remove the membranes from my ribs
    cut my chickens in half
trim my brisket before the competition

Is this legal to do?

Also, when do they inspect your meats at a competition- I want to brine my chicken and I know i can't do that until I get there and someone has inspected.

Thanks for your help!!
If I had something clever to say as my signature, this is where it would be.

No rules against pre-trimming.

Inspection usually varies from one comp to another. I would contact the organizer.

Yes..I pre trim all my contest meat for ALL Texas comps at home.....It is totally LEGAL......But you CANNOT rub, brine, marinate, inject before the meat inspection.......Not all contests have meat inspection.....
R&O Custom Offset....It rocks!!!!

I was curious about the details for the FW Cops4Kids this weekend. I got the response that removing the membrane, cutting chickens in half and trimming fat would be fine. So first thing when I get home tonight, out come the knives ;)
