Another Pork Butt Injection Thread

I didn't want to hi jack anyone elses thread.

Other than just plain apple juice does anyone use anything else that's working in comps? Any help would be appreciated.

Donkey Man.. You have been all over the place lately, Brother. This is a question that you will get a ton of answers about like anything else. there are no secrets in BBQ and no magic winning potions either.

That being said, you have a pork butt coming up to cook in competition or your just curious?

Yes, it is for a comp. First pulled pork at a comp too. I've been playing with pork butts at home and like what I'm cooking, but just was wondering if apple juice is enough at a comp. It's just fine at home, just not sure if it's good enough for one bite.

You're welcome. I personally don't like pork butt. hey, i just saw on channel 9(KTRE) there was a cookoff in Lovelady today and tomorrow. Looked like fun. you know i had that thread about no comps over my way and that one wasn't that far from me or you.

I've never done KCBS comps, but I kinda doubt AJ is enough. Chris Lily pork injection is good though. Worth trying I think.

This is actually an unsanctioned event. It's a local cook off, fifteen minutes from my house. KCBS hasn't made it to our piece of heaven yet.

That's cool. I've got a buddy that has a travel Trailer at his Deer lease about 10 minutes from there.
I'll check with some of my connections and see what the deal is.

Seriously doubt the comp winning butts just have apple juice.
The juice is more for moisture imo, there has to be that one bite flavor bomb too imo.

I meant for the cook off with the pork butt. Lovelady is about 30 minute drive.
