If you were going to build a small comp cooker...

What is the smallest cooking area you would want to go with? Mine will end up 48" long by 36". Is that way too small?

I think 48 X 24 would work

24x48 with a 24x24 firebox is perfect.....no smaller that 24" on the pipe...

That was the size I was going to make this firebox, 24X24. I just wanted to make sure we were not going to build something too small and have to start over later.

BTW: We have never done comps before and are complete newbs, but is sounds fun.
