using beer or other alcohol reduction as a glaze ingredient

Postby uttexas » Sun Mar 18, 2012 5:45 pm

Is this allowed?
if it's allowed, is this something you would stay away from doing, especially at certain events?

Pretty sure it is allowed, I dont see any reason as to why it wouldnt be. As long as you let it stay on the pit for atleast 15 min's after you glaze, the alcohol should cook off and you should be ok.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED to find out barbecue is being combined with alcohol here!!!! ("Sir, can we load your keg onto your smoker trailer for you?". "Well, thanks so much kid, here's 2 bucks for you."). Er, where was I? Oh yes, SHOCKED to find out alcohol is being combined with barbecue!!!! Next thing you know, people will be CONSUMING it!!! Great Caesar's ghost, have we not one shred of dignity left??? Don't answer that.

Heathens.....THEN AGAIN, there are times when alcohol can be in the same vicinity as BBQ. I for one have a safety device attached to all my grills/smokers...and that is my kegerator. Nothing seems to operate unless they are used in tandem. This holds true especially during those long hot summer months here in Texas....
