Cleaning at a comp?

Postby atcNick » Tue Jan 10, 2012 5:56 pm

It's on the dalton days website. I emailed the organizer a few months ago as well.

Well I see it there on the website. I hate that they are on the same weekend but not much we can do about it now. :banghead:

It is listed on IBCA site, we will have the flyer up this week. But I can tell you its $125 entry $10 Jackpot Beans, $5000.00 Prize Money paying top 10. Will be held downtown Marshall on the square. You can set up as early Friday as you like and should have plenty of electric (110) and some water. Proceeds to go to Marshall Regional Arts Council. You can call me (Chris) 903 316 8862 or Lori 903 780 1733 or email lori@gsco-rpls.com

Cool. Looks like you expect a big turn out. I think we may end up going to Marshall instead.

Pack up what you have and what you think you will need.

I have 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot, not only do they weigh 40lbs when full ( anchors the EZ up) but they provide water to my hot water on demand system. Coleman device, google if interested.

Attend said contest.

Figure out what was needed, what was not, what is still needed.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Now you can bring it to our cookoff in Marshall April 13 and break it in.

I'll keep an eye on the IBCA website for this one, what you posted earlier sounds like a good cook off!

Just like Chad stated gray totes forms SAMs and invest in a turkey fryer and warm up some water when needed!

Just thought of something else and Im just gonna post it here before I forget.... What about lighting? Is there usually some sort of lighting set up for night time or is every man for himself?

when i have been in a location without electricity, i either use a headlamp or a combination of the headlamp and maybe a tent light or Coleman lantern.
with electricity, i take my shop light(fluorescent tube drop light) and suspend it to cast a wide light in the prep area as needed.

Yep each man for himself. Unless you have a nice neighbor with a generator. Generators are always nice to have, if you aren't running anything big the Honda 1000 watt run just about everything you need from lights, fan, radio, and electric knife.

Before I got the toy hauler, I used the following:
5 Gallon 5 day water cooler. (Fill with scalding hot water Friday last min before you head out)
7 Gallon water jug from Academy.
I also use disposable cutting boards to save on clean up.

The hot water will stay hot through end of comp unless it's cold outside. Can always heat a pot of water to add.

With 12 gallons, with 2 people washing knives/such and washing hands, we would still dump water. And most comps, the hot water was still steaming.

Use small washtubs and you will see how much water you can conserve.
