We have been making lots of pizzas lately, I was thinking the other night...."what makes a great pizza"?
I think it must be the crust - that’s what makes a great pizza!
We have been using store bought pizza crusts - lightly coated in olive oil, Paul Newman’s pasta sauce, fresh grated mozzarella and fresh pepperoni and sausage. I always top with basil, parsley, oregano and parmesan.
What do you think makes pizzas great?

I think the crust and the sauce.
I like thin and crispy crust. As far as the sauce, I don't like a heavy tomato sauce. Target sells some (forgot the brand) but it's a light tomato sauce. It's really good.
When I make mine, I brush butter garlic on the entire crust, use the sauce mentioned above, pepperoni, mozzerella, spinach, canadian bacon, onion, mushroom, and fresh basil. After it's done cooking I will brush a little more of the butter garlic on the crust. Mmmmm....

I learned in Italy a few months ago that less is more.
I like a thin crust, and made probably my best pizza tonight.
I also may never use pizza sauce or cook it in the oven again.
We use an olive oil and smashed garlic on our dough, and use less toppings than in the past, and of course on the Primo it went.
It makes for an excellent pizza.

I too am a fan of a thin, crisp crust, simple pizza, cheese and meat kinda fella. I really should get more into making pizza from scratch here at the house. I'd rather have a doctored up Totino's frozen pizza than anything Domino's, Pizza Hut et all deliver.
I do agree with ya here! Ya know the best pizza I've ever had in my life was at a little pizza place in the Vatican museum food court...

Pizza of any kind for Saturday night eats after a half the night and all day BBQ comp.
Back on topic; thin crust homemade and for me it's got to include anchovies no matter what other toppings it has.
