K I S Sunday

Postby OldUsedParts » Sun Mar 31, 2019 2:26 pm

Today was Keep It Simple Sunday as far as Lunch goes and since I had a decent bowl of leftover crab and shrimp stuffing mix from the Surf N Oink, I decided to use that for some Cakes. I also wanted to use Boot's Broiling technique instead of my usual frying method so "thanks for the tip, Boots".

Pulverized some Crackers to add to it, made 6 Patties and sprinkled with Williams Food Co. Cajun Seasoning then into the oven @ Broil until toasty looking. Next time I'll flip and toast both sides but these were still good and for sure healthier than frying. :dont: Made some Cocktail Sauce from Catsup and Horseradish Sauce, nuked a small pkg of buttered brussel sprouts and it was done.

left over crab? really, I did not know such ever exists... :laughing7: :laughing7:

on the red sauce I am sure you know how to make it, better than I; it makes me laugh because I showed my then young daughter to mix horseradish with catsup, some fresh lemon and Tabasco, so a few years later she has a husband who does not have the culinary skills that a lot of us have and he proceeds to tell me how to make red sauce. Funny how what goes around comes around :whiteflag:

Oh yea, I’d eat all of that.

The secret to a really good cocktail sauce is the use of Worcestershire. I know how much you love that stuff :)

As far as the Sauce goes, sometimes I sprinkle in some Louisiana Red (Cayenne based). I used to love Tabasco but became intolerant to that species of pepper ?who knows why? However, there is NO Worstever Sure Sauce in this house. :whiteflag:

I'm with sailor on this one.. "Simple" is being really modest with crab and shrimp. Textural dilemma!! They sure look on point though. Good color from the broiler too. I'll reserve comment on the icky brussel sprouts. Lol! Odd, because I love cabbage.. :dont:
