Fear of Pressure Cookers: Gone!
Flu still draggin' on, but we got ourselves a Christmas present of an Instant Pot. Now, this is our fifth (counting Mom's old, dangerous one) pressure cooker, and the only one we didn't return after one shot. Because it actually WORKS WELL.
We've made a faux lasagna, chicken stock from the bones of a rotisserie chicken, and multiple (vanilla, lemon/almond) cheesecakes. It's also supposed to be a slow cooker and a rice cooker but we haven't used it as such yet.

And....a couple weeks late, our Christmas Lights:

Great pics! And... You're saying you've done cheesecakes in a pressure cooker?! This is a new one for me. It looks incredible!

Never heard of cheesecake in pressure cooker. Looks good though. And those lights are really cool.

Yes, cheesecake! 25 or so minutes, had to adjust the booklet recipe somewhat, but they were goooood.
Thanks, everyone. The candy cane lights came down today. It's kinda sad.

Feel better neighbors !!
Yup, the Crud is making its rounds for sure. Awesome Pressure Cooker, something I still don't own yet. I've heard of doing Lava Cakes in them, I bet its good.
We still have lights up too, old candy canes too
Probably tomorrow night when the tree comes down.

Re: Fear of Pressure Cookers: Gone!
Thanks WV. Unfortunately, it's time to bid farewell to Christmas.
The things I like best about the Instant Pot (compared to earlier pressure cookers) is that it doesn't take too long to get to pressure (sometimes, as quick as 10 minutes) and it's fairly quiet. When it's at pressure it's not constantly releasing steam. I suspect it regulates pressure just by adjusting the temperature.

Ok, mum used a pressure cooker when I was a kid. I remember it whistling away. I've never used one, cooking shows we get they use them all the time. I'm gunna have to get one. When's Father's Day,lol.

Feel free to share any ideas you have. My wife’s had one for a year and had maybe used it 3 times.

36 is hot. We're around 0 c at the moment. 15-20 cm. of snow is coming in the evening they say. Look forward to it because the last few days have been warm and the streets have turned into skating rinks.Russ wrote:And cool lights btw, we take ours down in 2 days time when home. Snow??? I really love summer but it was too hot yesterday. Drove into town at 8 ish for ice, still 33 then. Wee kids couldn't get to sleep. We rented a house with no air con. Don't think that's happening again. Snow...I hate with a vengeance. I couldn't live in your country. Would love to visit in the summer though.

I forgot to mention we made a turkey breast! Just under 7 pounds, of course the skin was worthless, but the meat was tender and juicy, and it only took about a half hour.
