Blackened Tilapia and Shrimp Soft Tacos

Postby OldUsedParts » Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:19 am

Got me a Cajun and Tex-Mex cravin today and I'm wanting to stay inside and get some clean up done in the house from some Handyman Work that my Contractor Pal has been doing for me. So I chose to make some Blackened Tilapia and Shrimp Soft Tacos. Got the Cajun part ready for later and then the Guerrero white corn torts, Roasted Salsa, Sooner sauce and Pepper Jack will enter the scene. So for now it's back to mopping, sweeping and polishing - - - YUCK.

Replace the tilapia with some snapper, or even cat fish and I'm there. Just don't get the craze about tilapia :dont: :dont: :dont:

I know from whence ya comin from, Friend, and, I too, used to avoid Tilapia until I discovered the locally farmed ones and now they are about the only non-seafood fish that we eat any longer. That is unless we're having Fried Catfish and Company.

They turned out tasty and I'm glad I did them BUT the best part is I didn't set the Smoke Alarms off in the house this time. Perfect location for Sooner Sauce and OUP Salsa also  :chef:

It's your fault "OUP" :banghead: , after seeing this thread this morning I just had to go get some of that farm raised tilapia, not sure who's farm :dont: but I'm going to try it any way. I normally oven fry catfish but I'll try the tilapia. By the way, yours look good. :salut: :salut:

Let me know what you think - - - they remind me of those Croaker Filets that we used to keep and eat because that's all we could catch at the time. :laughing7:

There's not a thing wrong with fried croaker from the Texas coast. :texas:

Looks awesome Emm !

I bet you would go Gangbusters if you lived right on the water !?!?

My goal/dream is to one day live right near the ocean, not south of here, but North of here in Maine.
Something about Cold Water Seafood drives me insane in the membrane :):)

Back several years ago, I fished the Salt avidly and tried to go wade fishing South and East of Willie's Turf as often as possible. Twice a week to the Salt was nothing for me especially since the Ex worked long hours selling Real Estate.

I spent a year in Alaska when in the Navy. We always had crab baskets set out. Nothing like right out of the water into the boil.
