Bought a can of collards a while back. In spite of dire warnings from those who know better, we opened it today and ate some, accompanied by Salisbury steak and biiig baked potato with sour cream and chives.
It was for science, okay?
The collards weren't as horrible as I feared. Very overseasoned, but edible.
Yes, my friends, probably fresh is better. Way better. But the fresh ones for sale here look baaaaaad. Maybe we'll grow some next year.

At least now you know, but regardless, that plate looks delish

My Wife brought some home a while back. I thought they were over seasoned as well. Still, better than a poke in the eye.

I liked the canned collards and even had a second helping. Maybe because the over-seasoning had a strong bacon flavor.

I buy the Glory brand greens, pre-washed in the bag
and cook them in my pressure cooker
they say the canned Glory products are the best of the canned greens

Cool! So, totally by accident, we got a good one. Thanks.
I have not seen their fresh produce here, though.
