So it's a fresh water fish? I've never heard of it, giggle showed me recipes though. And sides were fried okra and tatters??

Perch puts me on target now oup, thanks, okra available here anytime, popular with Asian community, I've deep fried it with other vegetables in a light chick pea batter. I also use it in my curries.

continuing the hi-jack, sorry Bobcat, my wiffy likes okra dredged in buttermilk, rolled in corn meal and then fried - - - looks like BC might do his awfully close to that way

That looks goooood.

I've heard of perch. Would this fish be the same as the little sunfish I used to catch and let go as a kid?

yup except larger and worth cutting nice fillets out of - as you can see from Bobcat's pics - - - very sweet meat and no fishy taste if done right

If I knew that back then, the fish probably wouldn't have let me catch so many.

Lots of varieties of Perch and a whole bunch of them, like Sun perch, bluegills, goggle eye and etc are very small so most don't bother messing with them because of the fine bones that you end up digging out of unwanted places (if you're lucky) - - - Even Walleye are part of the Perch family and a great delicacy IMHO.
