Overnight French Toast
Well, looks like tomorrow's forecast has us in the 18"-24" range, add in the ( Pocono ) factor regarding elevation and were now hearing possibly 30"...
So we're craving a good breakfast for tomorrow morning knowing that all 3 of us WILL definitely be taking a snow day.
Prepped the French Bread with 6 eggs, cinnamon, cinnamon sugar, whole milk, vanilla extract and pumpkin spice.
Soaking for about 8 - 10 hrs before I bake them ( first time trying this recipe ) for 30 minutes @ 400.
Gonna accompany this with maple sausage links, thick maple bacon, scrambled eggs and home made home fries on the Black Stone, along with blueberry coffee and some fresh oj !
I'll get those pics in the a.m before I go into the SNOW ABYSS...

Re: Overnight French Toast
Ok guys, so I learned a few things this morning..
First is that never ever think that old man winter gets lazy near the end of his term... Lol.
Were at 22" and we still have another 8 hrs to go before it's supposed to be out a here !
Also, I learned that for all of my life, I've been wasting my time making French Toast the popular way on a flat top .
For now on, I'll prep it the night before and bake it for 30 minutes at 400.
The wifey is more critical than Siskel and Ebert when it comes to flapjacks or French toast and I got the Thumbs Up with a smile so that says it all lol.

That looks really good!
I'd like to try it myself, soon.
Do you grease the pan that you bake the French Toast in?

Re: Overnight French Toast
Cheers wv, my wife loves French toast, I wouldn't have made it for her in about 10years, she normally has scrambled and bacon for brekky in the weekend. We don't do brekkey during the week. I'm gunna surprise her with this. Only thing different it will be fried in a pan.
Again thanks hombre.

Re: Overnight French Toast
Thanks guys !!
It was a success for sure and ur welcome professor.
Hope u let us know what you think of it.
Russ, great to hear ur gonna give it a shot as well.
I wish wish wish wish WISH I could convince you to give the oven a try just this once.
I've always grilled French toast as well until I tried baking it.
Just think of it this way...
Marinating chicken overnight usually if not always makes a better chicken dish than just coating and slappen them on the grill right ?
Let the thick French bread sit in the egg and spice bath overnight and bake evenly at 400 for 25-30 minutes will give u more time to drink some cold ones....um, I mean coffee.... Lol.
