Do you like Okra?

Postby OSD » Tue Jun 12, 2007 2:44 pm

We use Okra in stew, soups, and a few other dishes. I like to cut it into 1/2" pinwheels, bread it and deep fry it when we are having a fish fry. :D
I was wondering because I hear people say all the time they wouldn't eat Okra. :dont: They say it's too slimy. I just figured they didn't know how to clean or cook it right. :D

I can take it or leave it. If it is fried right, the breading stays on, and is still hot, then it is OK. Pickled Okra is OK.

I don't miss it though if I haven't had any in a long time.

I like okra fried and in my gumbo. Can't say I have ever had it pickled, but I'd try it at least ONCE.

I like it pickled and fried, not boiled.
Real good fried with coarse cut red tators, onions and dusted with corn meal and seasoning. :D

On the shelf in the pickle aisle, you will find it in a jar.

The only way I like okra is once in a blue moon I will eat it fried from Chicken Express.

Mom used to boil it when I was a kid. Reminded me of a slimey booger...

I've been know to steal a few off the Mrs's plate when we eat out, but I not a big fan of the stuff. Better that shrooms and mudbugs, I'll give you that.

The only thing I don't like about okra is how it tears up your hands when you pick it.
I'll eat it anyway ya wanna fix it.

My vote = yes, love it. Fried, pickled, gumbo or stewed.
