No bbq weather tonight so ended up with homemade sushi.
Always use Salma brand which is specifically produced for consuming raw. Guaranteed free of antibiotics or palm oil. Extremely strict controll of everything. Japanese sushi chefs are often here for inspection because a lot is exported to Japan. The only farmed salmon I eat. Top quality product.
We marinate the fish in a sauce made of soy sauce, honey, Tabasco and garlic. Served in slices with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger and sushi rice.
And of course, only beer is the preferred beverage with this.
Very light and tasteful meal.

Looks pretty, Joe, but I'm afraid that I'd have to bounce it across some hot coals before eating it - - I don't eat Sushi but my Kids love it.

I'll take it! We love makizushi.
And to think that just a few years ago, we swore we'd never eat 'bait.' That looks goooood, J!

Re: Raw salmon
Not a big fan of salmon, but id definitely try that, love the dip. Have you tried ketchup manis instead of the soya ?
I prefer it over the kikkoman.

Re: Raw salmon
Russ: we often use ketjap manis but I think it's to sweet for this, especially with the honey in the mix.
For those of you that don't eat raw fish. I didn't either up until a few years ago. Raw salmon is very neutral in its taste and without that "fishy" taste which stop me from eating much fish. Cook it too much and you have that taste immediately.

Re: Raw salmon
I'd call that shashimi, and while I love sushi, I can't stand whole chunks of raw fish in my mouth at one time.
Wrap it in rice and seaweed and I'm all in.

How 'bout soy paper? Sometimes I prefer that to nori.
I was introduced to raw fish early, quite by accident, on a date, when the boy in question (NOT PB!) didn't know how to work a hibachi, and the swordfish took so long to get done that I ate it anyway.

That sounds interesting. Never heard about soy paper . I don’t like the nori.

Soy or rice paper...here, we can pre-order it instead of nori, but it costs a bit extra. Less rubber-tire-y, to my taste.
