My first batch of breakfast sausage

Postby tex_toby » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:12 am

Last night, I finished packaging up my first batch of breakfast sausage (thanks for the suggestions!). The mix for the sausage was about 50% venison, 30% wild hog and 20% pork fat. I am not a big fan of breakfast sausage, but my wife fried up a test patty last night and I must say that it was mighty good! Now I can't wait for Saturday to get here so my wife can make up a big batch of biscuits and gravy to go along with it! :D MMMMmmmmmMMMMMmmmmmm

Where did you get the hogrings? I got a hog ring plier for Christmas but sans rings. Looking on the net, they come in 2,500 bundles, which would last me more than a life time. 50 would last me a couple of years.

I bought a package of them a few months ago at Gander Mountain. I can't remember how many were in the package, but it was probably 50 or so. Let me know if you can't find any small packages. I'll pick some up and send them your way.

Tex, Ya did good. Glad you found some bags. I like the tape machine better than the hog rings. much easier for me to use. And you don't have to remove to micro wave. CF :D
OK, get over it, you lost. God bless America

I just checked their website and had no joy but I sent them an email. If they are a store only item there is one down Denver way. I just might have to take a little trip.

CF - If I ask for one more piece of equipment anytime soon, I better use it to make a living or I might end up as part of the next sausage batch!

Re: hog rings you should find them at a farm store or auto parts store (they are used to install upholstery) I'll bet an Ace hardware store has them.
