sausage stuffer

Postby jorgev » Sat Jun 09, 2018 1:34 am

I am new to texasbbqforum and I can tell that I am going to love this joint. I am a member of Gator Pit's and Texas BBQRub's forums, because I use and own their products (not to mention they are great people, and I have learned a lot from them). I am addicted to BBQ/Smoking, and every other outdoor cooking you can think of. I want to start making my own sausage. I just ordered a Kitchenaid stand mixer (the biggest one they make) and all of the attachments they offer. If I want to start making my own sausage, is this a good rig to use? I am just wondering if this mixer is a good starter rig. I am looking forward to hearing and learning a lot from everyone out there.

Welcome aboard Jorge, we're glad you're here.

With regard to your question I'm certain someone with some personal experience with that particular machine will answer you. I'd also bet there has been a previous discussion you can search for that might give you the information you're looking for.

Glad you're here

I've only helped in the sausage making but I would think that, if you don't have a helper, an electric powered might allow you to keep both hands guiding and controlling the casing as it's being stuffed. A hand crank might get a little tricky and messy but that's just a guess on my part. :dont:

My wife bought me a mincer and sausage maker. I've used the mincer lots but not the sausage maker......yet. Look forward to this topic. Might learn summit.

Well I have quite a lot of sausage making experience but zero Kitchenaid experience.
From what I've herd folks seem to like the grinder but are mixed on the stuffer so let us know what your experience is.

Do go to the sausage and cured meats section of the forum and check it out you should find some good info there.
