Mmmmm Chili

Postby Ox190 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 11:06 pm

Made a pot tonight for a chili cookoff at work tomorrow, I love making mine in the crockpot and I tried a new recipe....but I think I may have put a few too peppers in it for the average joe. 4 deseeded Jalapenos and 1 deseeded habanero....to me it's a little spicy but that means other people will think it's nuclear reaction hot. Recipe called for 2 habaneros, but when I sliced the first one in half and my throat started closing up I figured I better just use one. Gonna let it simmer all night and see what we have in the morning, worse comes to worse it's too hot for everybody else and I get a pot of chili all to myself.

Jack, that's exactly what I did last night.

Chili didn't place, as soon as they said they liked the 3rd place chili because it was mild I knew I was out. It wasnt too spicy, it had a nice finish to it, kind of left your mouth a little warm. But they let 2 yankee managers judge it.....really you have a chili cookoff in Texas and let people from Pennsylvania judge it?

Well, that's a shame about the judging. Like the others, that pot of red looks mighty good to me. If it doesn't have some kick, you have a pot of beef stew. Look at it this way - at least you have chili to eat at home, now!
