The Placeless Chili

Postby Surfinsapo » Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:39 pm

Well, I made it with 100 chile pequins and it wasn't even hot enough for the spicy chile. It was the first one to be all eaten up though so that was good. It was also the only chili without beans in it.. I liked it too...

Hey Sapo - I can't tell ya how many chili cookoffs I have been to and didn't place, yet all my chili was gone. Chili is a funny thing. I think if judges re-judged the same competition back to back, you could easily end up with totally different winners. I would have had a bowl of your fer sure. :)

That's good chili! Your recipe is almost exactly like mine except that I add a little bit of ground comino.

Like you, I have chili petines growing all around here. Started with one plant and now have almost 100 (that I know of). The mockingbirds helped me out there. If I don't cover the plants with a wire cage the mockingbirds will help me completely out of a crop!

To my way of thinking, chili petines are the best tasting pepper there is. In the fall I harvest up a bunch of them, dry them in my dehydrator, and I have chili petines until the next crop comes around.

Good looking chili, Sapo. If the pot was empty, that's the best compliment.

Good lookin' chili, Sapo, and an extra tip of the hat for not succumbing to the bean temptation.
