Preheating that Cast Iron Skillet is most important - - - Mom taught me to grease it, put it in the Oven, then pre-heat the Oven, when the Oven is preheated, remove the Skillet and pour in the Cornbread Mix AND then put it back in the OVen for the required cooking time the same as you do !

I seasoned my 9" cast iron skillet and I don't used it for anything but Cornbread :whiteflag: :laughing7: :laughing7: :salut: :salut: :chef:

I dust the wet sides and bottom with a little flour and cornmeal and the loaf falls right out

Great looking chili and cornbread Rambo!!!
I cook my cornbread pretty much like yours. I like a lot of jalapenos and shredded cheddar cheese. :D

Yes I just use the cornbread recipe on the bag.
I have gotten really fond of hot water cornbread too. It is simple and quick to cook up.
