Chicken stock or water?

I'm making up some brisket chili this morning but don't have any beef stock ( I make my own but used it all in beef/veg soup) but I do have some home made chicken stock.
I hate the idea of using straight water but am wondering if the chicken stock will "throw off" the smoky brisket flavor?

Chicken stock will almost guarantee a flavor change, I would use water as well. You could even add a drop of two of liquid smoke in with the water.
We had no choice not long ago but to use liquid smoke and water because we were forced to cook in the oven and it actually worked pretty well as long as you don't use too much.

I did not wait for all the good advice and went ahead and used the chicken stock...it didn't ruin the flavor but I did have to add an entire bottle of chipotle sauce and one can of tomato paste to save it.. :whiteflag:

I think some good info would have been how much you planned on using. If it's your base liquid, yeah major battle with flavor. If you are adding a cup or so, there's no major change, if even at all noticeable.
