Mini Garden

Postby DATsBBQ » Sat Jun 05, 2010 3:07 pm

Most of the soil here is rock or mostly rock so I decided this year to put the peppers in pots. Should it snow  or hail I can easily bring them in or set them under the roof overhang. Since they're 10' above the ground, the chances of a dog mistaking them for a fire hydrant is much lower and the bears won't be able to walk on them.

Clockwise from top left, Bell Pepper, Jalapeno, Sandia Pepper, Tam Jalapeno. Looked for a hab or even Serrano but a big no-go on those. Guess they're not all that popular here.

Geat idea. I bet those peppers will do just fine. You can always get plants on the web. I get seed from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and they have a Caribbean Red Habanero, Lemon Yellow Habanero and a Chocolate Habanero listed in their catalogue. Their web site is http://rareseeds.com/cart/catalog/Hot-96-1.html" target="_blank Check them out.

He looks so cute, like you just want to run up to him and give him a big ol' baaar hug. Sheesh! That one looks like a 600 lb. thug in a parka! What's your ultimate anti-bear backup in case he won't take "GET THE heck OFF ME!" for an answer? I shudder to think. I have a four year old daughter who loves to be outside with daddy and is learning the zen of Q.

Pack some chicken Pooh around those Jalapeño plants if you want some good heat.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

The bears are in Colorado, the post is from before the move to the Promised Land. 8)
