Image I made the test batch today and it was very good, had a great traditional chili flavor. I used chuck steak instead of chili grind so I had to cook it a little longer. I would have proudly turned this in at a chili cookoff!

Made the test batch the other day, and followed the directions exactly. I think I like this better than my Chili. Very rich, bold flavor, with just a hint of heat. I think you nailed it, I wouldn't change a thing. Very easy to make, with the perfect blend of flavors, and not too spicy for the kids.

My only complaint is, the batch wasn't big enough for leftovers. :P

The cold front came in friday evening. Talk about perfect timing as I had already planned on cooking all day for a big catering event so had a couple buddies coming to help and thought it was a perfect time to try the chili. Cooked it side by side with my new favorite recipe and initially the three of us felt mine had a slight edge in depth of flavor spicewise. However the Sucklebusters we all agreed was very very good and definitely had a much better color. However after we got all the cabrito on the pit we came back and tried a second bowl each of both and interestingly we all agreed the SB was still looking much better color and presentation and somehow the flavors had swapped and we all like SB better after it rested about 30 minutes, this was around noon so we were not drinking beer yet.. About that time my wife and mom walked in from town and they tried both not knowing which was which and both women picked the SB bowl I guarantee you that says a lot as my mom has been a hard core die hard three alarm lover for ever and ever. I have a couple of personal recipes and have tried everything out there and will say that for simplicity, flavor, and overall awesome chili this is one good package and what I really like too is that from there you can tweak a bit to your own liking which I did after the taste test. Gator as Jeff said you really nailed it, we have a chili comp coming up in December and plan to buy and try there.
Thanks a bunch
RWBTEX

My chili on the left yours on the right and as usual the pics dont do justice to the appearance of presentation.

Many thanks everyone - I'm keeping tabs on all the results & taking notes. I have also received several PMs.

If anyone else has comments on the taste test - please let me know. Thanks.
