Salt Free Grill Seasonings?

Postby Gator » Thu May 31, 2012 5:42 pm

- a loaded question - :D

Do you have any favorite "Salt Free" grilling seasonings? I'm working on a recipe concept and all the ones I have tried/tasted -> taste like !@#$%. I'm looking for recipe ideas...if you care to share your thoughts?

One idea was to create a "Chipotle Lime" Seasoning (OSDs recommendation - thanks Jim) perhaps a Chipotle Lime Salt Free?

??

I use this rub Gator when I cook for folks that have to watch the salt & sugar intake. It has good flavor and works well on beef, pork and chicken.

2 tablespoons granulated onion
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon sweet Hungarian paprika
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground celery seeds
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Indirect only direct heat burns it too much reverse sear is ok but prolonged exposure it can give some off flavors.. Another trick is to take some Mrs Dash for a ride in the old spice grinder.
