Beer of Choice
Question, what is the beer of choice for marinading? Or is it whatever you are drinking at that time? Is there a preferred rub to go with it? I am a fan of Shiner and wanted to start using it, but wasn't sure how to go about mixing and marinading. Any excuse to buy the beer will do too.

Try using Shiner Blond for marinating. Sometimes the hoppy beers give too much bitter flavor to food.

Re: Beer of Choice
I used beers as a teenager and younger man, but as my skills have progressed I moved away from it....and never went back. What I cook now seems to get good reviews...but we'll see how this year goes.

Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

A couple weeks ago I simmered Some Johnsonville brats and onions in Shiner Smokehous, then threw them on the grill. It was very good but made for very expensive brats.

Re: Beer of Choice
I like Shiner.
Hefeweizen is the best (IMO) it is a honey wheat beer made with lemon peel. Great flavor, is better in a marinade over cooking with because it can become bitter when boiled down.
Bock is great for cooking with like brats or beer bread. Holds it's flavor when boiled and doesn't become bitter.
Blond is great for if you have a mild or non flavor of beer in the final product.
