Does anyone have a good simple basting recipe for chicken thighs? I hear plain apple juice is good. Any ideas?

not a baste I guess but I had great results with rubbing them with brown sugar like I wanted a second date (lots of brown sugar), sprinkling on some apple cider vinegar and rubbing in some lemon pepper.

Hmmmm. You know........brown sugar and apple cider vinegar sounds like an excellent baste! Perhaps not for chicken. I would use that on a pork shoulder. Fantastic idea though.....might give it a shot! Thanks!

I soak mine in a simple brine...water and salt.

How long Gator? Do you soak in fresh water before cooking?

If its just thighs, not too long, 2 hours or so, rinse well and pat dry before applying the rub.

Rinse, especially of you put any sort of sugar in your brine. Otherwise your chicken will get really dark (sugar burning on the surface)
I don't baste. Just glaze with BBQ sauce a few minutes before I take the chicken off.

What's the Dr Pepper glaze? Something homemade? I'm going to try Bludawg's Dr Pepper sauce this weekend.

Soak 'em in butter milk & hot sauce, rinse, pat dry brush on some Mayonnaise, shake on some rub, smoke 'em, thin out some BBQ sauce with
some Jack Daniels brush it on the last 15 min.

Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.
