After a couple of years trying a bunch of different store bought rubs, I've not been able to find anything better (or cheaper) than my old home made. So I go to the drawer that holds my old recipes and it's gone. I think I remember some of it, but I don't get the that's the stuff feeling when I taste it.
Any suggestions?
4 parts salt
4 parts paprika
2 parts coarse pepper
2 parts chili powder
2 parts granulated garlic
1 part mustard powder

All my rubs have a herb in them, Summer Savory, Oregano, Cilantro etc.
That said, while maybe not cheaper but certainly worth the price you pay for them. I'm partial to the Hoochie Mamma. To boot, check this out viewtopic.php?f=40&t=4327&p=39308&hili Makes for an even better deal. Just saying.

You know I hate it when that happens. I have two rubs that I like allot one is:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup granulated garlic
2 tbl Mexican Oregano.
this is the other one
1/2 cup paprika
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons Mexican oregano
2 tablespoons salt
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup granulated garlic
2 tbl Mexican Oregano.
this is the other one
1/2 cup paprika
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons Mexican oregano
2 tablespoons salt
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

I've several of the SB flavors, and they are very good. That may be the fall back plan.
I'll try some dried green stuff in mine and see what happens, thanks.
