Pulled Pork on the smoker?

Postby TX1911 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 2:16 pm

I've seen some indirect heat on the grill recipes, but not a bunch on the smoker. It'll be my first time with pulled pork. Any recipes? Many thanks!!!

Wet it down with Worcestershire, apply your favorite rub, and smoke at 225-250 for about 1.5 hrs a lb or an internal temp of 200,deg. Wrap with foil and rest in a cooler lined with some newspaper for an hour. remove unwrap pull. add a little rub and mix through. Add a little good *Nc finish sauce. and serve with more in the side.
*BluDawgs Pig Juice;

1 1/2 cups cider vinegar
10 tbl ketchup
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1//2 tsp red pepper flake
1 tbl white vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper.

mix together and refrigerate, the longer it sits the better it is.

i do it more or less the same, but when i pull it i stick it in a foil pan,,, then let it rest and pull it in said pan,,, so i don't loose a drop of juice when i pull it. then i sauce and store it in said pan,,,

it's never dry, but seems like such a waste when juice is left on the cutting bard.

it freezes really well too, add a bit of extra sauce. i spoon it up into 4 person servings and freeze it like that.
if your look'n... you aint cook'n

Can I just ask the "Ketchup" referred to quite a lot - is this more like a tomato puree rather than the Heinz Ketchup we get in the UK??

No, Heinz ketchup is what you will want to use or any tomato ketchup you prefer. I'm a Hunts man my self it is just a tad sweeter than Heinz, just my personal preference.

Hunt's doesn't have any High Fructose Corn Syrup (so to be required to be labeled as Corn Sugar) in it. Hunts is all I buy.

It's the cane sugar that makes all the difference like a bottle of Dublin Dr. Pepper. The proof is in the taste. :goof:

Thanks, need to work on our homemade BBQ sauce :) Attempting our first turkey at the weekend, a test run before christmas, will also chuck on some pork and ribs - meat feast :)

Will take pics as we go and post. Also any good turkey rub recipes you want to share, or pulled pork rub recipes ;) much appreciated.

So new to all this, we want to try out many different flavours
