ABT filling question

Postby ChadMist » Tue Jun 29, 2010 1:20 pm

Let me ask this question. I fill my ABTs with cream cheese, hot sausage, SB rub that I have around and small amounts of pineapples for the hot sweet taste all wraped with bacon. What do you fill yours with?

What Dave said - there are 50 ways to leave your lover and 50 ways to stuff your ABT :D Have done them several ways with different rubs. I like to either mix some rub in with the cheese or put rub on the cheese and then on the bacon after wrapping. One thing I have learned is; if you use thin sliced bacon and stretch it a little you don't need toothpicks. Many of my earlier ABTs had toothpicks and needed them because I was using thick sliced bacon.

My bride says it really doesn't matter - when you have bacon, philly cheese, and jalapeno anything else is a bonus :)

I'm not a fan of cream cheese, I've been using queso blanco with good results.

Done 'em every sort of way. My current favorite is goat cheese, sundried tomato and garlic. Minced pulled pork and sharp cheddar is tough to beat too!

I fill mine with a mix of cream cheese and raspberry/chipotle sauce. I then top with steak, sausage, or shrimp. Finally, I wrap in applewood smoked bacon.

Thus far, my favorite has been the shrimp version.
