Txd, we grow our own and grand kids love picking them when they are here. I'm freezing what we don't eat. So far made strawberry jam and coulis, just finished some ice cream right now. 28 deg Celsius here, strawberry coulis was yummo.

We've had a house hunt since this was raised . I've found the bottom freezing bowl but can't for the life of us find the paddle. Having another hunt this weekend.
Drat.

We have a 6qt White Mountain that we get out every so often when we want/need to make a lot of ice cream. I got one of those Breville self contained ice cream makers about 4 years ago. Makes about a quart of ice cream and makes it very well. I've made the usual flavors plus chocolate bacon ice cream, and several flavors of sherbet. Very handy and fairly easy to clean up. I bought a second container to make consecutive batches of ice cream if needed.

Cost-effective depends on what kind of ice cream you're comparing to. Since ice cream largely falls under junk food and doesn't require storage, I don't imagine there's much of a premium (unlike e.g. yoghurt or cheese), but I haven't run the numbers.
Yes, we've made it. If you can make dough, you can make ice cream (or alcohol). No machine, but did use a special "bucket" that had to be pre-frozen. Don't have it anymore---too infrequently used.

We make it 8-12 times a year . it is much more expensive than store bought but I know who has been licking it ;)

We also have an icecream maker but seldom use it. However the icecream it makes is way better than the one bought in the store.

This is very important Rambo, you don't want just anyone licking your ice cream before you buy it.

I saw that, and she needs to be in big doo doo. It maybe ok for the grandkids to hit up the homemade ice cream before its time. But this deal was just out right disgusting.

Makes you wonder what people use to think with sometimes. Especially in todays times when everything you do is on a camera somewhere.
