Papa's Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce
Papa's Bread Pudding
4 C French bread crumpled (about 1/2 loaf)
2 C Milk
1 C Sugar
2 T Butter melted
2 Eggs
1 T Vanilla (more if Mexican)
1/2 C Raisins
3/4 C Pecans
1/2 t Nutmeg
Combine all ingredients. Pour into buttered baking dish and place in unheated oven. Bake @ 350 F for 1 hr. 15 min..
Bourbon Sauce
1/2 C Butter softened
11/2 C Powdered sugar
1 Egg
1/2 C Bourbon (add to get proper texture may be less)
Cream butter and sugar over medium heat until well combined and remove from heat.
Blend in egg thoroughly. Blend in bourbon stirring constantly. Sauce will thicken as it cools.
Serve over warm bread pudding.

Well the secret is out but this is not the sauce you had at the get together but it is really good. This is the version that I said rivaled Pappadeux's. The thing that bothered me most about this one is that it essentially contains raw egg so if you make it don't keep it very long, but then I've never had problems with the stuff lasting very long anyway.....enjoy!

Thanks PT. Storage life was a question that I was going to ask you about this one. I do remember you mentioning have tweaked the recipe... Maybe, someday you'll be ready to part with the current version. Until then, this one gives us something to play with... Thx again.
