Bean Dip Recipe

Postby Stan41 » Tue Feb 02, 2010 6:04 pm

I have always liked Frito-Lay Bean dip. At the price it is, I could eat myself out of house and home on it. I think I finally have it counterfitted:

Bean Dip Like Frito Lay

1 (15 oz) can refried beans
5 slices bottled jalapenos (nacho slices)
1 tablespoon brine from bottled jalapeno slices
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 or 3 tablespoons water.

Combine all ingredients in food processor or blender
Puree at high speed.
Chill at least an hour before serving.

I would say that this is the regular dip. Of course you can make it hot by adding some more pepper.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Fritos corn chips clone:
Yellow corn tortillas
pickle salt
lime juice
Lard for frying

Heat the lard to 325 deg in a CI DO, dissolve pickle salt 1 tsp per cup into the lime juice and pour it into spray bottle spritz the tortillas with the salty lime juice lightly re stack and cut into chip size pieces fry in the hot lard about 1 min remove to paper towel lined bowl to drain and salt.

Thanks BluDawg. I'm going to try that to dip my bean dip with.
Between the 2 of us we may make the Frito-Lay Co go broke.

the one I use is very close to this,,, we get her all mixed up, hand full of cooked fajita chicken, stir that in, hand full of cheese on top and toss her in the over,,, serve it hot,,, it's very good.

what's funny, i never realized the likeness to Frito's bean dip until now,,,but your right. it's about the same (i say "about" as my recipe differs slightly)
if your look'n... you aint cook'n

Only thing I could tell a difference with was the consistency...the Orginal is thicker. Prolly due to Maltodextrin or some sorta thickener thats bad for ya
