Who DOESN'T love a Chick-Fil-A chicken Sandwich?

Postby tex_toby » Tue Jun 29, 2010 11:25 am

I have searched high and low for this recipe for several years now. A friend of mine ran across it recently and sent it to me. I haven't tried it out yet, but it won't be long (maybe this weekend!). I thought I would share it with you all. It's not the easiest to read, but if it turns out like I expect, I will re-type it all out in a more user friendly version. You can save it and open it up in a photo viewer and zoom in a bit before it gets too distorted. Enjoy!

I did some browsing and found some copy-cat recipes.
Some of my best friends are cows that want me to eat chicken but I have tried none of these recipes.

4 chicken sandwiches
Ingredients

* 3 cups peanut oil
* 1 egg
* 1 cup milk
* milk (for dipping chicken)
* 1 cup flour
* 2 1/2 tablespoons powdered sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon pepper
* 2 tablespoons salt
* 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, halved
* 4 plain hamburger buns
* 2 tablespoons melted butter
* 8 dill pickle slices

Directions

1.Heat the peanut oil in a pressure cooker to about 400°F.
2 In a small bowl beat the egg and stir in the milk.
3.In a separate bowl combine the flour, sugar, salt and pepper.
4.Dip each piece of chicken in milk and roll in flour mixture until completely covered.
5.Drop all 4 in cooker.
6.When steam starts shooting through the pressure release, set timer for 3 minute.
7.IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLOSE STEAM RELEASE.
8.IT IS VERY DANGEROUS!
9.While chicken is cooking, spread a coating of butter on the face of each bun.
10.When chicken is done, remove it from oil and drain on paper towels.
11.Place two pickles on each bottom bun, then top with chicken and top bun.
12.You can add lettuce and tomatoes if you like.
13.Mayo also goes well.

Chic-Fil-A Recipe for Nuggets and Strips

Okay, so I tried out this recipe and it is EXACTLY like Chic-Fil-A nuggets. However, I used whole wheat flour and half the salt to make it a bit healthier. In the end, it is actually pretty healthy for you.

The peanut oil I used had:
2.5g of sat fat
5g of polyunsat fat
7g of monounsat fat
per every tablespoon...

Also, the nuggets don't even pick up that much of the oil, so its all good. I'm not sure the specifics of deep frying but all I know is the peanut oil is not all that bad for you. The biggest thing is the salt, but even with just 1 tablespoon, it tastes great. Also, your gonna want to get urself a cheap deep fryer for this. I got mine at Target for 40 bucks that can cook about 2 chicken breasts at a time and is pretty easy to use while at the same time being very clean.

This can be a nice cheat meal and will save you $ in the long run if you google your fav fast food recipes and deep fry them yourself. Total time to make 4 chicken breasts worth of nuggets was about 1 hour (+ letting them soak for about 1 hour.)

Please look at the recipe below as I may make edits to this post to add some more information.

Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich OR CHICKEN NUGGETS

**Note- This was written by someone as a recipe they found comparable to Chick-Fil-A. As their lawyers have reminded me- Chick-Fil_A does not share their recipe and this is not THE recipe***

3 cups Peanut oil
1 Egg
1 cup Milk
1 cup Flour
2-1/2 Teaspoons Powdered sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
2 Tablespoons Salt
2 Skinless, boneless chicken breasts, halved
4 Plain hamburger buns
2 Tablespoons Melted butter
8 Dill pickle slices

Mix together the egg and milk. Place the filets in this mixture, and let
sit for at least an hour.
While the breasts are sitting, mix together the Flour, Sugar, Pepper, and
Salt.
Once the sitting is done, dredge in the flour. (For ourselves and our
favourite customers, after the first dredging, we would put them back in the
milk bath for a few seconds, and re-dredge! This is not company policy,
however!)
Place the Peanut oil in a deep fat fryer, and bring up to a high heat.
Once up to 375 F., gently drop into the oil, and let cook until golden
brown. (This is for those of us who do not have a pressure cooker. If you
do, follow the note below!)

Note: Chick-Fil-A actually uses a Pressure Cooker to cook the Filets in. If
you have one, use the peanut oil according to the instructions for frying in
it. Desired heat is 400 F. Once steam starts shooting through, cook for
about 4 Minutes.
Lightly butter the buns, and grill until heated through. Place two
pickles on each bun, and place a hot breast on each!

In the end it might be difficult to duplicate the taste, because IIRC Chick-Fil-A actually uses a pressure-fryer for it's chicken.
