Texas Korean Pork Butt

Postby Boots » Sun Oct 15, 2017 12:56 pm

Since our South Korean allies are in the news so much lately, and in remembrance of our Korean War vets, our troops standing guard against the drunken lunatic north of the 38th, as well as the fighting ROK Army, I decided it was time for a little experimentation with a Korean pork butt. So this little guy has been brining and swimming in a marinade now for five days, using a bottle of stuff that I picked up over at Whole Foods (pricey joint), and of course, I added a little Shiner Bock to make it feel more at home here in the Republic of Texas. At only 2 1/2 pounds, I will shorten the clock with kind of a sprint cook, we'll see how it turns out in six or seven hours.

As the late Paul Harvey used to say, "stay tuned for... News!"

Great spread. What did you think of the flavor?

Great flavor. Candied it up w Sucklebusters Hot and Spicy in the last two hours. Really tender, but should have gone 9 or 10 hours total to making it fall apart good.

Everything looked really good. That glaze was spot on, even had the color of Korean BBQ if you know what I mean. Well done sir. :chef: :chef: :chef:

I am only two years late to the pahhteee!!!! Looked beyond awesome!!! Mind sharing the full recipe? What was the "stuff" you had. The shiner bock makes sense, tenderizes like crazy … what was the Korean portion of the brine? After five days brining I'll bet it was awesome! Again, apologies, I am two years late to the party. :whiteflag:

Late to the party? I was thinking, “How did I miss this post?” I’m on here every day  ohhhh 2 years old. Yeah I might have missed this one a couple years ago ;)
But nonetheless, that PB had an awesome color to it. :salut:
