This marinade recipe is over 60 years old. It's from my wife's grandmother, and is originally a recipe for marinated flak steak.
For each flank steak:
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp cilantro (or oregano)
1 big clove garlic, minced (or crushed)
salt & pepper to taste
(I'd add a little lime juice and onion, but that's me. The original recipe is just the above ingredients.)
Mix ingredients, let marinate overnight, and grill. Don't overcook! To serve, slice into thin strips. Especially good on tortillas with grilled peppers, onions, and salsa.

Just realized, I forgot to mention you need to mince or crush the garlic to get the flavor. It seems obvious, but I know some folks wouldn't think to do it.
