Wow great ideal .. water in the buckets... lol we used sand at CCA and they are still on my front porch ( concrete i think now). Thanks for the water ideal.

Screw them into the earth and use your tie down straps to latch on to the top of them and onto the canopy frame.

Another great ideal .... I will pick up several dog tie off's ... Thank you

doing the Schertz Fest.
I decided on the 10x20 canopy
Bought a 6 foot and a 4 foot table.
still a 60 percent chance of rain on Saturday.

I really figures you would be there since your right next door.

About the water buckets to hold the canopy down, I saw somewhere where they were using gallon milk jugs with water... Should work ok for someone that doesnt have several buckets laying around.

You would need several jugs to get the weight needed. Even a 5 gallon bucket of water weighs only ~42lbs... Not enough weight in a big wind if ya ask me... That's why I anchor to the pit, truck etc.

Once you get there and have a few cold brews you will settle down. Just go have a good time visiting and cooking; the most important thing about a cook-off is having a fun relaxing time.

Gotta agree with Bar "G"! Don't take it too serious or you'll drive yerself nuts...

I think that having all that rain for our first comp actually helped take our minds off of things.

Slow deep breaths my friend... you'll be fine. :P

You take 4 - 6 buckets of water and you have more than enough weight to hold it down. one bucket at each leg. Then again in a tornado nothing will hold it down.

Not enough in the Texas winds. We had full buckets of water on each leg and it still took 3 fairly big fellas to hold the canopy down... After that when the wind got that serious, we just took it down.

Now, you didn't tell me that Chicago's Mayor Daly was visiting Texas? (oops no politics in this forum)
