Big D Barbecue Battle April 29-30th

Howdy all, just putting it out there that the Big D Barbecue Battle on the grounds of Valley View Mall in north Dallas is in the pipeline for April 29th-30th. This 40 team large corporate charity event is on, benefitting Café Momentum, a working/teaching Dallas restaurant that operates as a training center for at risk teens who have been through the juvenile justice system and are working to build skills for culinary careers.
The event will feature live music, vendors, and all the barbecue you can Jones out of the contestants as part of the people's choice. My employer will the sponsoring the VIP Beer Garden Saturday afternoon, and Matt Hamilton of Local Yocal will put on his Steak 101 showcase Friday night as a VIP event as well, if you have never seen Matt and his partner Brian in action it is a rare treat (including free samples of Wagyu ribeye and filet, typically). Four Corners Brewing of Dallas will be providing the craft made suds. The Grand Marshall is planned to be Allen's own Burton "Bubba" Gilliam, star of Blazing Saddles fame. The venue will open to the public 5PM Saturday afternoon and I think you will find this to be a really fun and well run cook for the family to enjoy. Yoda and I (the core of the Country Club barbecue team) will be there representing Bank of America in front of the main stage, runnin' and gunnin' for a win, so come on by and give us a big Howdy.
Cowboy Don has been there before (and a big hat-tip to Don once again for helping us survive and pack out from the Biblical flood we got hit with last year), and can give his unvarnished, unbiased opinion of what he thinks of it.
General admission tickets are $30 in advance.
