Here's what the payout looks like for the cook off. If enough teams show up the organizers could bump the payout up.
GC 1000.00 and a BBQ Guru Onyx Oven
RGC 600.00
1st 550
2nd 450
3rd 350
4th 250

6- 10th 75 each

What is the amount of teams it will take to bump the payout up? I guess what I am asking is this payout based on 30 teams, 40 teams or is this just guaranteed with an increase depending on the quantity of teams. I know you said ya'll have space for 92.
Heck, we have an IBCA event only looking for 25 to 30 teams in Sulphur, Louisiana coming up paying GC $1750 and RGC $750. I do like the tie in with the Onyx Oven from Guru for the GC prize as well.
Keep up the good work Swamp, you have represented the event well!

I'm not sure about how many teams they based it on. But it's paying out 10 spots in all four meats also.

Another plus is that it's an inaugural event so as long as we get more than 14 teams the GC will get an invitation to the Royal.

Just recieved word today that the Onyx Oven will come ready to roll with a Guru Unit. Also, The BBQ Guru Competition Team has confirmed that they will be competing in the cook off.

Hopefully the event website will be up and running next week. I sent a mailing list to the organizers yesterday and they should be sending out fliers and apps very soon.

I am still waiting on a confirmation date for a CBJ class that is supposed to be held at SHSU sometime in October.

Entry Fees and paper work turned in today. Looking forward to being there this year since I decided not to cook Houston this year.

They haven't given me a count. They only said they've revived "quite a few". I'll call and ask this evening. They did say that a famous Butcher is supposed to be coming to cook, and the BBQ Guru Team. Looking forward to seeing you!

Also, they have 23 CBJ's that are committed to judging. And are in touch with quite a few others. They also said the CBJ Class is going to be held around the middle of January.

That's what I was told. I haven't seen the entry form yet, but he personally called the organizers.

They're going to have a Kids Que at the cook off. Limited to the first 30 kids that sign up, that morning. The entry fee will be $25. The kids will be supplied with a cooker, fuel, tongs and meat and will get to keep the cooker and tongs.

Also, they have 28 CBJ's, so far, that have volunteered to judge.
