Winstar, OK

I noticed that the LSBS just recently posted a comp. at Winstar May 17-18. Does anybody know if this is the same big event, with the same big payout, that they've had the last couple of years?

What's the deal with it....unorganized, too crowded? We're thinking about going to that one and I'm just wanting to know what to expect.

Yes..it was very un-organized......the 30 amp power that was promised was not 30 amp...it was overloaded...off and on all week end....on a gravel parking lot...very windy and dusty all week end...at awardswe were given a voucjer for the amout of prize money had to redeem it at the pay out window in the casino in order to get paid......Lines were long and was in line for 1-2 hrs to get your money....casino tried to pressure cooks to put winnings on a players card....had to argue to get cash......just a total bad experience both yrs.....just not for me...If you go bets of luck...had 119 teams the 1st myr...156 last yr....they were completely overwhelmed on how to handle all of us... :dont: :laughing7:

Even with all the problems, money still talks, and let's face it we're talking upwards of $30,000 in purse. Yeah it's a beating, but let's hope they take a lesson or two from places like Marksville, LA on how to run and handle the payouts.

The issues with the tie breaker last year were frustrating at best, but in the end it wasn't Winstar's doing on that matter. They did fail miserably on the payout, and I hear a rumor that a security guard or two is still looking for a certain unnamed individual hiding out in the slot machine area. :D

If they have the cookers set up in the same location all of that area has changed. A few months ago they hosted the PBR and came in and planted grass and asphalt roads. Who knows with Winstar they may move it back to the first years location.

The payout is what really makes it tempting. Also, don't they payout to 15 spots? Would like to see how we'd fare in a contest this size.
