I'm loaded up, leaving work around 2:30 this afternoon headed from Beaumont to Cleveland. Good luck to all attending! Still looking at 30 teams or so?

Well...2nd place open meat and 9th place ribs...considering there were two separate trips to the ER , massive scheduling problems...I'm proud of my team....still think the judges must be wearing socks on their tongues

Sounds like an exciting time with trips to the ER. Did the rain hold off for you guys? Congrats on the 2nd place on open!

Rain held off until we were all in the hall for awards, then the bottom dropped out, made for a messy drive home pulling a pit and trailer loaded with goodies. Never got to meet and talk with the WDS guys, spent most of my time at awards talking with Dennis May. Had a great time, everything seemed to have went well and the cookoff was well ran and was for a good cause. No emergency room runs here, hate to hear that. Only complaints about the park (Stancil Park), very little shade and porta cans were nonexistent near the cookers. Met alot of other great guys cooking and enjoyed the time spent as always. Only call was 10th place chicken, dissappointed we didn't get a call in ribs thought they were pretty good. Knew we weren't getting a call on brisket, way too dry, blaming it on the el cheapo sale briskets from HEB. Congrats to all those who got calls Saturday afternoon.

My VP Colorado and myself (Mark Wheaton) walked around Saturday between turn-ins and, we tried to hit all the teams to say hello, but if they were busy or not in sight we moved on down, I completely forgot your team name Jeff...maybe next time.
