Personally I would like to add more, as I usually cook shoulder and brisket.
Not meaning you have to enter both, but if you have both...

To me, I like the catagories as they are. Separate brisket/pork catagories might work, but the "Big Hunk o' Meat" catagory lets people enter other cuts, like clod.

Besides, entering 4 is tough enough, IMO.

I think sides should be allowed in the categories

why not just have it like KCBS does but at our discretion say Ribs (beef or pork) Chicken (thighs, wings, breasts, whatever) Pork (butt, loin, chop, etc) Beef (brisket, kc strip, filet etc) and Chefs choice.

Have the categories but let the competitor decide what kind of pork they want to do or choose the kind of beef they want to cook etc and the ribs be whatever animal they choose, beef, pork, lamb, etc..

Chefs choice can be sides, dessert, anything goes.

It's that pretty much what we've done? Granted, steaks haven't been in the mix before but ... .

We could rename it to Big Hunks of Meat to Solid Hunks of Meat to include your fillets 8)

It's in my notes  No promises made for your idea or anyone else's. We'll be discussing all this and more in our next top secret deputy meeting

Which reminds me, anything anyone wants to offer up as to improving the Throw Downs, the window of opportunity is closing so do it sooner or later. Afraid to post you comments in the open, PM to me or any of the management. (Chuck, you're in management and didn't even know it  )

Got a feeling, the next contest will be pleasantly surprising.

Puff... Not trying to :stir: (I like this new smiley!!!), but I like it the way that it was last throwdown with the only category that allows sides being the "Anything Goes".

As far as I am concerned, the sides on a plate distract from the meat. The contest is about the meat.

:goof:

Playing devils advocate here; what if the sides were cooked in the smoker (beans, taters...) Technically it's still Q

As far as I am concerned, I am against it... But, the majority rules! :big:
