A question for those who've never entered a Throw Down.
While the Throw Downs have gotten bigger each time, it's our goal to improve them. If you've never entered a Throw Down, then we would like to know why. You can post here, or PM or EM myself or any of the Deputies or even the Sheriff. Thanks in advance for your response.
You thoughts and suggestions will make the next Throw Down better!

Hey Dats,
I realize this sounds lame, but I honestly have no time to focus on the throw down while cooking Q (every week-end) for my week-end BBQ business. Everything I cook is staged to be ready at a certain time leaving little if any time to take pictures in some sort of presentation mode. I'll be shutting down for the season next week-end and if the next one coincides with anything other than freezing temps, I might just have to submit some photos. I know you work hard at coordinating the various stages of the competition and for the record, I enjoy looking and voting. It's a fun thing and I apprecite all you do to make it happen.
Maybe next time, but now it's time to throw down some ribs on the ole pit. Trying some of Gators Hog Waller on 'em today!!

I tried to think of lots of logical reasons, but I guess to be real honest, it's just a fear of not measuring up to everyone else! Ya'll put out some awesome food and pics!
I love to vote and look at all the food. Next time, I promise to enter something, even if it's only an 'other' item!

I plan to enter the next one. There's only been one since I joined and I basically wanted to get an idea of what everyone does before entering myself. Now I know so I'll try to participate next time. We don't use our smoker much in the winter because we have no wind barrier and it's always blowing here. It's hard to hold temp when it's really cold and windy. So, I can't make any promises if it's cold out when the next Throwdown is set.

I think the prizes are awesome and more than enough!! It's just getting that confidence together for me!!

Another newbie
There just hasn't been one since I recently joined. When is the next??? Is it OK that I'm from Utah which probably gives me an unfair advantage since we are soooo well known for our outstanding Q.

We haven't decided when the next one will be, but there will be one.
Might have to handicap this one, to make it fair for non-Texans.

throw down climate
Michigan, they do Q in Michigan??? Just bustin' your chops... I'll bet that MI gets those single digit heatwaves like we do here in Logan during the dead of winter. I'm with you, don't care what the temp is outside, just what am I holding at in the smoker...
