Grilled Catfish & Asparagus

Postby tex_toby » Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:03 am

My wife and I have a beach vacation coming up in a few months, so we have changed over to eat healthy and exercise mode!  To me, this just means more grilled meals. Last night, I grilled up some catfish fillets & asparagus. It was light, healthy, and just darn right tasty.

Seasoned up and ready to go on the grill

I forgot to take pics of it plated, but it was great! We even fried a few fillets up for our two boys and I didn't even miss it. I've done many other types of fish, but this was a first time for me to try catfish on the grill. I'll be doing this one again! :D

Tex, looks pretty good. I have not grilled any fish direct, but do a lot of blackened fish. The asparagus looks real good. One of my favorites. CF :D
OK, get over it, you lost. God bless America

I have not done fish on the grill, but that looks to good not to give a try. Looking to buy a weber charcoal grill soon, so I will have to put that at the top of the list. Nice job!

Looks good! I love grilled fish, but how does everyone keep them from sticking to the grill? Most of the time mine turns out to be "chopped fish".
Ideas appreciated.

Thanks....I have cast iron grates that I get very hot and then I clean and oil them just before putting anything on. It helps out a lot with the sticking. That said, I still had to be very careful with them and only flipped once. It still stuck in a few spots, but not bad.

I do the same thing as Toby... Get the grill screaming hot and oil right befoe the fish goes down. Once you have the fish on the grill, leave it alone and don't fuss with it until it's time to turn. As the grill marks develop, the flesh of the fish will release from the grates.
