Planked Salmon

Postby tex_toby » Wed Oct 22, 2008 10:19 am

Well, I bit the bullet and gave salmon a try on the grill. I found it to be really easy and the results were fantastic. The asparagus were drizzled with EVOO and seasoned with Dizzy Pig Dizzy Dust. This will definitely go into the rotation! :D

Looks tasty. I got some cedar planking from the hardware store on the weekend, might try that tonight!

Now how did I miss this post... The salmon looks great!

Truth be told, I've never 'planked' anything... gonna put it on my short list of things to try.

I don't recall seeing this either, it looks great. I too have never planked anything, mostly due to the prices they want for a pice of wood yo ucan't use again.
I might have to suck it up soon. 8)

I have with so-so results but it was my fault for not soaking the plank long enough. BH I can save ya about 100% on those planks.

Yes - the prices for cedar planks cut for the grill are highway robbery. The planks seen in the picture should have been sitting right next to the diamonds in the jewelry display case for what I paid for them. Since then, I figured out that you can go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a 12' untreated cedar board, cut it up into 12 one foot sections for about the same price as you would buy two bbq cedar planks. I kinda relate it to buying firewood by the 3-stick bundles in front of your local grocery store.

I do recommend trying the planked salmon though. Definitely some good eats! :D

Had some friends up a few years ago. They brought up a plastic wrapped bundle of fire wood for us to burn in the woodstove that evening. Thier intentions were honorable, even commendable but I think they felt a bit of foolish when they saw 3 cords of Oak and a couple cords of Pine 15' off the deck   8)

Oh, and that Salmon looks good. Can't say I'll try it as the Mrs turns up her nose a Salmon. Wonder if it would work with Halibut?

I've never tried halibut, but if you send me some, I'd be glad to give it a try and let you know!

Chef, good video, I enjoyed it. I might give it a try with tilapia or some other mild fish.
I will have to side with Dave's wife, I don't care for fresh salmon.
OK so I am strange what else is new. CF :D
OK, get over it, you lost. God bless America
