Beef skewers

Postby Sterno » Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:32 pm

Last year I bought some bushcrafting tools (axe and spork) and decided to try them out by grilling something.

I'll make some skewers out of those.

Check the sharpness of my new GB axe with tomatoes. :)

Cut meat and vegg with my good old sebbie!

Give them some olive oil and herbs...

.. and some hot direct heat!

Enjoy it with a lovely beer, sebbie and the new titanium spork! :D

Very Nice!

FYI: You might want to consider using thumbnails before one of the Deputys yells at ya for the pic size...

a hui hou,

Cheers! :) I gave them high heat first and then moved them to indirect heat under closed lid to get done. Worked out quite nice.

Hey Sterno... thanks for the quick reply. Never thought about of doing it like that. I catered a bbq for a high school graduation and they wanted me to use skewers. So I used my metal skeweres, all 48 but separated the food. Beef on some, chicken on others, and the s'hrooms, tomatoes, green/red peppers and onions all on their separate skewers. Worked out great when you have 60 hungry people.

When I cook for just the wife and I... I will use your "method. :)

a hui hou,

Well your way is absolutely the correct way to do it and for sure better than mine. I just did an ad hoc grilling and playing around with my new tools. It's not the best result, but it was fun and definitely eatable! :)

Cheers,
Sterno

PS. Converted the pics to thumbnails

Looks real good - I do like kabobs.
Sunday, I plan to do spiedies. I have pork, chicken and beef cubes marinading. No veggies on the skewers - just meat.
Read enough about these things, I decided it was time to try some. Hope mine turn out as good looking as yours did!
