Steak dinner

Postby Norway Joe » Sun Apr 23, 2023 2:28 pm

Our youngest kid is 19 today and asked if we could have steak for dinner. We had my parents over, so we fired up the gasser and grilled a few sirloins.

Side dishes was green salad and twice baked potatoes served in bacon cups. Served with homemade pepper sauce.

Tasted great.

Nice! Looks like Jaeger gravy too.

Thank you.

We love this sauce. It's great on steaks. Both from beef and pork.

The sauce is simple, but tasty.

Here's the recipe:

1 red pepper, diced
1 yellow onion, diced
1-2 tsp course ground black pepper
4 dl (1.7 cups) of beef stock
3 dl (1.2 cups) of cream
1 tbsp of pureed tomato.

Add the veggies and black pepper in a hot pan. The veggies and pepper should be fried. Some char , but not burnt, is what you want.

Add the beef stock. Let it boil for 15-20 minutes.

Add the cream.
Heat until boiling again.

Add the tomato puree.

Let it simmer for a few minutes.

Add cornstarch to thicken the sauce to your liking.

We also add a little sugar color to darken the look of the sauce. The cream can make it look a little pale. A darker sauce looks better IMHO.

Adjust the amount of black pepper in the beginning to your liking. I guess many of you are used to hotter food than us.

Let me know what you think, if you make it.

Thank you Joe I appreciate it!
One last question if I may. Is the red pepper a Bell pepper or something a bit hotter?

It's bell pepper. Wife says she uses only a half. Adjust amount to what you like.
