Steak Night

Postby GRailsback » Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:34 pm

Been up at the lake house for the last week, unsupervised. Which usually means I spend way to much time at the VFW and not much time on regular meals. Had to come back for a rodeo meeting tomorrow so figured I would catch up a little bit.

Just about Row-Day-Oh time ain't it :?: I think that 2022 was the fastest year I've spent in a long time - - I used to attend those "meetings" when I was on the HLS membership for the Donkey and Mule Association - - - I don't know if they even have a Donkey and Mule Show any longer??????

They still have the donkey and. Mule show. And it’s still in the old horse arena. One of the few things from my past down there that they haven’t destroyed for something new. We used to do the Ag Mechanics show in there. I will pick up my 26th badge and parking pass tonight. 4 more years to go until I retire down there.

Wow, 26 years - - - I'll bet you can tell some stories, especially from the old Astro Dome and "Abercrombie Arena" :salut: :texas:

Parts, if you haven’t figured out by now, there’s not much grass growing under my feet. Not only do I have stories, I have great stories. The old horse arena had great bars in it, it also had a cafeteria for committeemen to have a place to go get something to eat. The old Astro Hall had great bars, but none were better than the old Chute Club behind the livestock chutes on the floor of the Astrodome.

Here is what this years looks like, my 26th.

Parts the Stockmans Club is the only one left in the horse arena. None of the bars on the floor level are there.

I do remember the Chute Club - - Not for sure BUT my little Brother and his Wife are still active in the Committee I think. She use to do a Smoked Turkey Legs Stand but I'll have to ask them if things are still the same??????????
