OUP and Piney Cook Pork

Postby Smoking Piney » Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:58 pm

OUP and I have been discussing our less than great motivation to cook as of late due to life. We both shared the same sentiments as far as loving it, but being less than motivated. After some discussion, we decided to do similar meat cooks to get each other moving and cooking, each in our own way just to get out and cook again. This IS NOT a competition or throw down. It's just two friends getting each other moving, cooking, having a good time doing it, and maybe generating some discussion on this forum.

Again, just two friends cooking - NOT a competition.

My cook:

A four pound pork rib roast, slathered in Bear and Burton's W Sauce, and rubbed with SB SPG. It's smoked on the Assassin with a mixed load of cherry and pecan wood for smoke. Cooked to an IT of 140 dead center, and rested for 30 minutes. I'm loving it. :D

OUP is up next.

I'm liking that, Brother John and this sure did get me to moving and enjoying.
Next time you pick the Meat !
I did a Pork Roast with Pulled Pork in mind.
Decided to do it in the Crock Pot for 8 hrs instead of over Smoke.
I injected it with Tony's Creole Style Butter for my first time ever and it worked very well. We loved it
After injection I covered it heavily with Suckle Busters Honey BBQ Rub.
Added some Own-Yawns and Jalapenos and in the Pot it went.
The Sammies were very good :wav:

Awesome, Brother! Did you save me a plate? :D

I love jalapenos, but my wife can't deal with ANY heat.

Great dinner!

No prob with the Heat because I de-seed and de-vein them very thoroughly before using them.
You also just taught me about a that Roast (Pork Chops ETC) and I'll be trying that one later, I imagine :salut:
This was fun, Son

Great idea Piney!!
you have my interest as well.. You may have just touched on a new throw down method which challenges entries to a "wild card" cook by a given date ya'll ponder and change it
to suit the forum needs...
aside from the above thought great looking cooks by both of you fine folks!! :chef:

OK Members - - - Confession time is here - - - - the Pulled Pork that I fixed yesterday was awesome HOWEVER after overnight in the Frig, IT WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL SO I TRASHED IT - - - don't know what happened but I'm thinking it probably was the injection of Tony's Creole Butter. Hope I reached anyone that might have been considering it :whiteflag:

Oh Well that's Life ?ain't it ? :whiteflag: :angryfire:

It really shocked/surprised me that the taste could change "that much" overnight in the frig   :whiteflag:

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I think I can also speak for OUP in saying that we both had fun. :D

OUP, sorry to hear. What happened to the pork? Bad taste / texture? Did you try microwaving to re-dissolve the butter?
