Sure looks like someone seared the other side then flipped before filming. I never did see the "top" get to the bottom. Still, kinda mesmerizing to look at.

From what I’ve found, as long as it’s modern brass, no. Pre-modern brass had arsenic. I’ve seen way too many brass bowl smoking pipes for it to be a concern.

Probably uses Hickory "Sticks" and Mesquite "Mallets"
